Corrie Francis: Fine Art

Reformation Extended

These cycles are meant for wall exhibition in spaces of multiple distractions such as a home or gallery. Imperceptible changes expanded over time create what appears, on first glance, to be a still work of art. But when the attention of the viewer is distracted and drawn back several minutes later, the image has transformed into a strangely similar but certainly different moment. The viewer at first questions his memory and is draw to attend the image, perhaps this time noticing some of the changes. Occasionally, the transformation speeds up to a smooth and obvious pace, only to return again to apparent stillness.

These short sequences are sped up for the convenience of internet viewers who are not in the same frame of mind as a viewer might be looking at art on the wall. The transformations that take 5 minutes here, might take 15 minutes in a setting where a viewer might be able to be distracted by his surroundings and then return to the work at a later time.
